DASI ATTAM Course with Paramparai Foundation

The DASI ATTAM course in South Indian performing arts is a synergy of music, dance, and poetry, a comprehensive course designed by Dr. Saskia Kersenboom, dancer, scholar, author, and founder of Paramparai Foundation.

Students learn Carnatic music and Bharata Natyam dance, with training in the Tanjore Court tradition of T. Balasaraswati and the Tirutani Temple tradition of Srimati P. Ranganayaki. Dr. Kersenboom shares her wealth of knowledge and experience and deep love and respect for these artistic traditions with students from all over the world.

Paramparai Foundation is located in a small village nestled in the Hungarian countryside surrounded by sunflower fields, where plum trees line the roads and the church bell chimes the hour. Dr. Kersenboom and her husband, Goszo, who skillfully cares for the property and supports all activities of the course, have created a charming sanctuary of nature, knowledge and the arts.

To take a course with Dr. Saskia Kersenboom of Paramparai Foundation is a transformational experience on all levels. This video gives a glimpse of the course, held each summer from 2012-2015, from the first days arriving in Legend, Hungary, to Gajjai Puja graduation performance in the tradition of T. Balasaraswati.

Thanks to fellow dancers Nicole Windenberger, Katalin Kiss and Viktoria Luhaste, dear friends who have shared the experience of the course and contributed photos and much of the footage for this video. Thanks to my family for their infinite love and for all their support of my studies.
